MANILA, Philippines – The Superstar, Nora Aunor, passed away at the age of 71 on the evening of Holy Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

This was confirmed by her son, actor Ian De Leon, through a Facebook post.
"We love you Ma.. alam ng diyos kung gano ka namin ka mahal.. pahinga ka na po Ma.. nandito ka lang sa puso at isipan namin.." he said.
In another Facebook post, “With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved mother, Nora C. Villamayor 'Nora Aunor' who left us on today April 16, 2025 at the age of 71.”
"She was the heart of our family — a source of unconditional love, strength, and warmth. Her kindness, wisdom, and beautiful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever."

Ian did not disclose the cause of his mother’s death.
Just recently, the National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts formally withdrew her candidacy as the second nominee of the People’s Champ Guardians party-list.
Nora Aunor, also known as the "Superstar of the Philippines" and affectionately called "Ate Guy," was one of the most successful and critically acclaimed actresses in the history of Philippine cinema. Her career was marked by numerous achievements and accolades, showcasing her exceptional talent in both acting and singing.
