MANILA, Philippines – Sandra Cam, former board member of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and a well-known whistleblower, has passed away at the age of 64. Her family confirmed her passing on Thursday, April 10.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved mother, Sandra Abaño-Martinez-Cam," her son Marco Martin shared on social media.
No further details were provided regarding the cause of her death.
Born and raised in the quiet town of Batuan, Masbate, Cam was widely known for her fearless pursuit of truth and justice. "She is a faithful woman of God and was known for her dauntless courage, bold spirit, and unwavering dedication as a diligent fighter for truth," Martin wrote.
Her advocacy and tenacity earned her several accolades, including the Dangal ng Bayan award, recognition as a “Natatanging Filipina na sumusulong sa Pagtulong at Paglaban sa Korapsyon,” and the title of “Outstanding Asian Public Servant and Educator.”
Cam’s last role in public service was as a member of the PCSO Board of Directors, where she dedicated her later years to helping the poor and underprivileged.
Her son also remembered her as a “resilient single mother” who raised three sons, all of whom continue her legacy of service to the Filipino people.

Cam rose to national prominence as a whistleblower in the illegal numbers game jueteng, and later became the head of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines. In 2016, she ran for a seat in the Senate but was unsuccessful.
Her remains lie in state at the St. Peter Chapels in Parañaque City. Public viewing will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.
