Woman allegedly uses 'gayuma', but salt 'wakes up' groom at wedding

Social media has been abuzz over the story of how a woman allegedly used ‘gayuma’ (love potion) to snag a handsome guy, and get him to marry her.

While the love potion appeared to have worked, with the couple planning an elaborate wedding, complete with a wedding coordinator and prenup photoshoot, the groom ‘woke up’ from the spell after someone threw salt at him during the wedding! Uh-oh.

This reportedly happened in Cagayan de Oro City, southern Philippines.

According to accounts from the wedding suppliers who were also affected by the event because they weren’t paid by the bride as well, the woman claims to be super rich. She supposedly claims to be a relative of a rich politician from Davao City.

Believing that everything she said was real, the wedding suppliers spent money to prepare for the wedding without asking the bride for a downpayment. According to the suppliers, it was the bride who promised to pay them. It appears that they were scammed as well because they spent around Php500k for the event despite not getting any downpayment!

Meanwhile, the other star of the viral story is the clueless groom who first appeared to be so in love with his bride.

The affected suppliers recalled that the groom appeared to be in love with his bride who claimed to be pregnant with twins.

However, the groom’s family and friends are skeptical of the story of a whirlwind romance with a girl he barely knows. They also didn’t know the bride, leading them to believe there was something wrong with the situation.

The wedding suppliers detailed that the wedding plans started out fine but the ceremony itself was disrupted when friends of the groom allegedly threw salt on him - and the guy ‘woke up’ from the supposed spell! Ooops.

The guy appeared dazed and looked confused about why he was getting married. As expected, he was too embarrassed about the whole situation and asked for his name to be withheld from publications and news reports.

Because the salt thrown on the groom appeared to work, it soon sparked memes on social media. Many netizens joked that it’s best to throw salt on couples now just to make sure their love for each other is real, not due to a really strong ‘gayuma’ (love potion).
