'Hindi na siya maibabalik': Sara Duterte urges Filipinos to 'move on' after father's arrest

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte has urged Filipinos to move forward after the arrest of her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte. Speaking from The Hague, Netherlands on Thursday, March 20, she said dwelling on past events is futile.

“Wala talaga akong nararamdaman. Hindi ako galit, hindi ako disappointed. Nothing at all,” she stated. “Hindi na siya maibabalik.”

Her remarks came amid allegations that National Security Adviser Eduardo Año was involved in the 'grand conspiracy' leading to Duterte’s arrest. Año denied the accusations in a Senate hearing.

The vice president stressed the need to focus on pressing issues, including government accountability and budget concerns.

“Ituloy natin ang demand natin for transparency, accountability, peace, and security,” the younger Duterte urged.

The 79-year-old Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on March 11 upon returning from Hong Kong.

The ICC alleges he orchestrated death squads responsible for extrajudicial killings during his drug war.

Duterte was taken to The Hague the same day to face charges of crimes against humanity.

The former president appeared via video link before ICC judges on March 14. His next court appearance is set for September 23.

While Malacañang insists on a “fair trial,” the case continues to divide the nation.
