“She is a kind, hard-working, and intelligent student, she even became a working student when she was in her senior year in college,” Clyde described his girlfriend.
According to Clyde, his girlfriend's struggle began in February 2025 when she started experiencing headaches. However, she initially paid little attention to it since the pain was still manageable. They assumed she was merely suffering from over-fatigue due to her freelance jobs and other errands. However, as days passed, her headaches worsened, and she developed a fever, prompting them to rush her to the hospital.
After undergoing various tests, doctors at the public hospital recommended that they consult a neurologist to gain a better understanding of her condition, especially since all initial results appeared normal.
On February 20, they rushed his partner back to the hospital after her mother noticed that Lieselle was having difficulty speaking and seemed to have regressed to behaving like a tantrum-throwing seven-year-old.
At the hospital, they initially struggled because Lieselle was behaving like a child and seemed to be unaware of herself. She continued to vomit, had no appetite, and even refused to drink water.
“When the neurologist checked on her, we summarized everything that happened from when it started to how her condition was progressing. Her doctor told us that she was lucky, because most cases that was similar to her symptoms, when it came to this point, patients were already unconscious. The doctor told us that they need to do a specific procedure to test if she has a brain infection and what type of infection it will be,” he said.
As of now, the initial diagnosis points to tuberculous meningitis. Doctors have indicated that once the diagnosis is confirmed, Lieselle might require one to two weeks of intensive treatment. Despite the uncertainty, Clyde and her family remain hopeful, holding on to faith for the best possible outcome.
The treatment and hospital bills were expensive, so Clyde and Lieselle’s family decided to seek help from her alma mater as well as from netizens.
"Every prayer, message, and contribution has made a difference, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Please continue to keep Lieselle in your thoughts and prayers as she continues this fight," he said.
