MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines - College Admission Test (UPCAT) results for Academic Year AY 2024-2025 are expected to be released online between March and April 2025.
UPCAT was held on August 10 or 11, 2024 in 113 testing centers nationwide and key locations in the Middle East, a significant increase from 102 sites in 2023 to support geographically disadvantaged and financially challenged Filipino youth.
Successful applicants will be admitted in the First Semester of next school year.
This year’s UPCAT marks the second time the exam was administered since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Admission system during the pandemic was via UP College Admissions (UPCA), an admission scoring model where a student’s admission to the university is dependent on their high school grades.

UPCAT PASSING RATE
In previous exams, UP said "roughly 10 percent" of examinees usually pass and the university could accept around 15,000 freshmen.
Sixty percent of the UPCAT is based on the test, but 40 percent is based on their final grades in Grade 8 to 11 to determine the UP admission grade (UPG).
"Ang batayan ng UPCAT is 60 percent ng weight ay doon sa test, but 40 percent ang batayan natin [from] Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10 at Grade 11... doon natin malalaman kung sinong matatanggap," UP President Angelo Jimenez previously said.
Note: To implement the policy of democratic access, UP also considers socioeconomic and geographic factors in its admission process.
UP SELECTION PROCESS
Admission into UP is very selective due to high demand. Applicants come from very diverse backgrounds but they are all ranked based on indicators of academic preparedness for university life.
- Selection for admission to a campus is based on the applicant's rank, campus quota and/or cut-off grade.
- A successful applicant can receive an offer of admission to only one of the applicant's UP campus choices.
The successful applicants for a given campus are ranked according to grade predictors and quotas of their chosen degree programs. Some degree programs are more competitive due to high demand.
Applicants should choose only degree programs they are interested in. If an applicant is not successful for his/her first choice of campus, the process continues in order of priority of the remaining choices.
UPCAT COVERAGE
The UPCAT consists of 4 subtests: Language Proficiency (in English and Filipino), Reading Comprehension (in English and Filipino), Science, and Mathematics.
