'Never been a studious student' tops November 2024 Civil Engineering Board Exam

MANILA, Philippines – “It is never too late to chase a big dream if you have the dedication to focus and work for it to achieve it!”

That was the statement of Engr. Francis Charles Lauta, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Cebu-Main Campus, ranking 1st in the November 2024 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination (CELE).

Lauta admitted that he wasn't the studious type or diligent in his studies. In fact, Lauta seemed to be a late bloomer because it was only when he reached his fourth year in college that he realized he could excel and become the top 1 in his field.

“I was never been a studious student. It all started at my 4th year level in college, when I became the top 1 scorer on our first Module Exam in EC 1 (MSTC Review) subject. At that time, I enjoyed the feeling of being able to achieve something that I cannot imagine I could,” he said.

“Because of that, I've learned not to limit my dreams and told myself that someday, ‘You will be a topnotcher!’ Such vague dream slowly became crystal clear, and then here I am! After how many sleepless nights of grinding my way up to the Top, I finally achieved it!”

Lauta individually expressed his gratitude to the significant people who became part of his success in a Facebook post on December 7, 2024. His advice to everyone, “Learn to love and enjoy your course, trust me, when you are having fun while you are studying, you can absorb everything faster than you can imagine.”
