MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives has endorsed the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte on the final day of the session on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

As of 3:46PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 215 representatives signed up for VP Sara’s impeachment.
The Vice President is facing three impeachment complaints for allegedly misusing public funds, violating the Philippine Constitution, and betraying public trust.
According to the law, only 101 legislators are required for the House to forward the complaint to the Senate, where she will undergo trial.
The Senate Secretary has directed officials of the Public Relations and Information Bureau (PRIB) to prepare for the possible transmission of the impeachment complaints.
According to the staff, personnel from the House Secretary General's office are expected to deliver the complaints to the Senate tonight at around 7:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, according to reports from some local media outlets, congressmen allegedly held a meeting this morning regarding Duterte's impeachment.
In accordance with Section 16, Rule 6 of the Rules of Procedures in Impeachment Proceedings, the following will serve as prosecutors in the impeachment trial:
- Rep. Gerville Luistro
- Rep. Romeo Acop
- Rep. Rodge Gutierrez
- Rep. Joel Chua
- Rep. Raul Angelo Bongalon
- Rep. Loreto Acharon
- Rep. Marcelino Libanan
- Rep. Arnan Panaligan
- Rep. Isabelle Maria Zamora
- Rep. Lorenz Defensor
- Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores
Duterte will remain in office as the complaint is forwarded to the Senate.
Update: Duterte on Friday said that she is not contemplating on resigning from her position yet after the House of Representatives impeached her earlier this week.
"Wala pa tayo doon. masyado pang malayo 'yung mga ganyan na mga bagay," she said in a press conference.
