Former ‘tindero’ now a mechanical engineer

MANILA, Philippines – “Life is what you make it!” That adage perfectly applies to Engr. Angelo Pigol Bautista, a young ‘tindero’ or vendor who reached his dreams and became an engineer. Quite literally, his hard work paid off big time.

While some netizens might say that praising people like Angelo is akin to romanticizing poverty, others were simply inspired by his story. After all, he showed the world that yet another young person was able to graduate and pass the board exams while also juggling time for earning money to support themself.

Angelo sold different types of food, depending on what was available for him to sell. There were times when he sold chicharon and pie.

Thanks to his determination, hard work, and perseverance, Angelo managed to support himself through his college years, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tarlac State University.

Like many other working students who struggled to juggle their time and energy between earning money and their studies, Angelo also experienced doubts. He also felt that studying for the mechanical engineering board exam was truly difficult.

Soon enough, his efforts were rewarded as he passed the mechanical engineering board exam in 2024 - and is now a full-fledged licensed engineer.
