Did Taiwanese “Meteor Garden” star Barbie Hsu refuse treatment for her influenza, ultimately leading to her untimely passing? Some people are alleging that on social media after her supposed medical records were released.
A post on Weibo, reposted by the Meteor Garden Philippines Fanpage, shows the alleged timeline of the actress’ emergency medical records. A tour guide alleged that she was already sick when she arrived at the Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan on January 29.
The tour guide noticed Hsu wearing a mask, with her cheeks flushed, which the guide thought was unusual even through the actress’ sunglasses.
Reports claimed that the actress passed away due to influenza. The tour guide further claimed that the actress had obvious wheezing but insisted that it was merely a common cold.

On January 30, the actress and her group had plans to go to Hakone Hot Spring Hotel. Despite being sick, the actress allegedly insisted on pushing through with the trip even when her friends suggested they cancel it so she can see a doctor.
According to the tour guide, Hsu insisted on the group heading to the hot springs on the grounds of “not wanting to spoil the fun.”
Sadly, the extreme temperatures at the hot springs from the steaming hot air, coupled with the huge temperature difference with the severe winter coldness, may have worsened Hsu’s low-grade fever of 38℃.
Due to the alleged delay in seeking treatment, the actress’ condition worsened. By 2:17 am on January 31, an ambulance was called to the actress’ hotel.
The emergency timeline post claimed that the actress already had serious health troubles by then:
- her blood oxygen saturation had supposedly dropped to 89% (as opposed to the 95% - 100% normal levels)
- Obvious moist rales in the lungs (crackles that make lung sounds)
The online report further alleged that the actress received antipyretic injections but still insisted on returning to her hotel without getting admitted or seeking further treatment.
The medical team had also suggested that she seek treatment with their referral to the Tokyo General Hospital. However, the actress once again allegedly declined because their return ticket had already been booked.
What’s sad is that the actress prolonged state of untreatment worsened her condition. On February 2 at 4:05 am, the actress passed away. Again, the post alleged that both the actress’ lungs were already in a “white lung” state (the lungs appear white due to pneumonia).

Some netizens questioned how the actress can die over something as simple as a flu, yet other news outlets like The Straits Times also alleged that she had underlying medical conditions, including epilepsy and a heart disease.
