MANILA, Philippines – Vice Ganda's "And The Breadwinner Is..." continues to lead the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) with reported earnings of Php 270 million as of January 3, 2025.
Sources said the performance of the MMFF 2024 is not comparable to previous year in terms of total gross. Latest gross of the ten official entries is nearly Php 600 million only.
In 2023, Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes' "Rewind" raked in Php 815 million in its domestic box office sales. The MMFF total earnings were around Php 1.2 billion in two weeks run.
Following the calls from the public and movie enthusiasts, MMFF organizers decided to extend the theatrical run of its official entries until January 14, 2025 in select cinemas.
“We, at the MMFF, are overwhelmed with the continued support of the public for the festival’s 50th edition. Due to public clamor, we have decided to extend the theatrical run of the MMFF movies to further showcase the locally produced films that are truly impressive and artistically excellent,” Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Atty. Don Artes said on Monday, January 6.
The festival is supposed to end on Tuesday, January 7.
