MANILA, Philippines – A Masbate resident topped the November 2024 Geologist Computer-Based Licensure Examination, according to the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Leandro Ceasar Aguilar Cediño from Masbate City achieved a score of 90.50%.

Cediño graduated as a University Scholar from the University of the Philippines (UP) with a Bachelor of Science in Geology in July 2024.
He was recognized as the first-ever Summa Cum Laude of the UP National Institute of Geological Sciences and also received several prestigious awards, including the College of Science Excellence Award for Outstanding BS Graduates in Geology, the UP Geology Merit Award, and the Dr. George Bacute Undergraduate Thesis Award.
According to Cediño, his family and school played a significant role in his success.
"Unang-una ang pamilya. Sa kanila ko natutuhan at naisabuhay ang halaga ng edukasyon 'di lamang dahil ito'y kailangan para magkaroon ng lisensya, kundi dahil ito'y susi sa karunungan at dangal bilang pundasyon ng isang mabuting ehemplo sa sosyedad. Naging malaking inspirasyon din sa akin ang aking mga guro simula pa noong pre-school, elementary, high school, at lalo hanggang sa UP," he said in an interview with Bicol.PH Facebook page.
Cediño also shared, especially with young people aspiring to achieve success in life, that they need to be critical thinkers, hardworking, and, most importantly, to love learning.
"Mahalin hindi lang dahil gustong makatanggap ng mataas na marka, kundi dahil nakapagbibigay ng motibasyon ang maintindihan at maisapuso ang koneksiyon ng mga aral sa ating kapaligiran, mula sa kalawakan ng sandaigdigan hanggang sa kamuntian ng ating mga buhay, " he emphasized.
