MANILA, Philippines – The Jesus Nazareno image left Quirino Grandstand at 4:41 am today, January 9, 2025 to make its way back to Quiapo Church.

Around six million devotees are expected to flock the Quiapo Church and the City of Manila for the Traslacion, commemorating the transfer of the image of the Black Nazarene from Reccollect Church in Intramuros to its present shrine, Quiapo Church.
With the theme “Mas MABUTI ang PAGSUNOD kaysa PAGHAHANDOG (1 Sam. 15:22) sa mga UMAASA kay Jesus”, the Traslacion will follow the traditional route in Manila spanning 5.8 kilometers.

With some changes made on the carriage (andas), the Traslacion 2025 is expected to have a faster pace compared to last year.
Last year, the image of Jesus Nazareno left Quirino Grandstand at 4:45 am and arrived at the Quiapo Church at 7:44 pm for a total of 14 hours, 59 minutes, and 10 seconds. It was attended by some 6.5 million devotees, one of the biggest crowds in the history of the annual religious festival.
Quiapo live mass today
The Fiesta Masses commenced on Wednesday and will continue hourly through to Thursday, coinciding with the Traslacion.

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula Jr. presided over the Misa Mayor at the Quirino Grandstand at midnight on Thursday. This was followed by the Panalangin sa Bukang-liwayway (Prayer at Dawn).
Over 70,000 devotees attended the Misa Mayor, which ended at 1:45 a.m. with attendees raising their handkerchiefs and shouting "Viva!" The conclusion of the mass was marked with a fireworks display.

Cancellation of classes, work
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Jan. 9 (Thursday) as a special non-working day in the City of Manila, in observance of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno.
The holiday declaration was contained in Proclamation 766 signed on January 3.
Safety and security
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will be deploying over 14,000 officers to secure the Feast of Jesus Nazareno.
The deployment includes 12,168 officers for area and route security and 2,306 personnel who would serve as an augmentation force.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) would also deploy units to assist the Philippine National Police in securing the annual Traslacion.
Signal jamming on mobile phones may be implemented on January 9 depending on the threat assessment.
