MANILA, Philippines – Kapuso star Ruru Madrid emotionally accepted the Best Supporting Actor award at the recently concluded 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Awards Night for the film “Green Bones.”
Ruru defeated fellow nominees Jhong Hilario and Kokoy De Santos from “And The Breadwinner Is...,” David Ezra from “Isang Himala,” and Sid Lucero from “The Kingdom” and “Topakk.”

Teary-eyed, Ruru received a kiss on the lips from his girlfriend, Kapuso actress Bianca Umali, who also became emotional for him, before going up on stage to accept the trophy.
“Buong buhay ko, lagi po akong underdog,” he said, during his acceptance speech.
“Lagi akong talo, naa-underestimate, lagi akong binababa.
Meanwhile, his co-actor Dennis Trillo won Best Actor, and Green Bones was awarded Best Picture.
In the movie, Ruru portrays Xavier Gonzaga, a prison guard, while Dennis takes on the role of Domingo Zamora, a prisoner incarcerated for the murder of his sister and her daughter. As Domingo becomes eligible for parole, Xavier ensures he stays behind bars.
In 2025, Ruru Madrid will return to primetime, through the season 2 of “Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan,” which will air on GMA Prime in January.
