LIVE UPDATES: SC releases 2024 bar exam results today

MANILA, Philippines – The 2024 bar exam results are out today, December 13, 2024 after the special en banc session of the Supreme Court (SC). The live updates and link of the full list of passers, topnotchers and top performing law schools are available here once released online.

As announced, 3,962 (37.84%) passed the 2024 Bar Exams.

Passing grade for 2024 Bar was adjusted to 74% instead of the traditional 75% passing grade.

Similar to previous years, hopefuls may expect announcement of bar exam results around 12:00 noon. The livestream video of "2024 Bar Examinations: List of Successful Examinees" will be available here for quick reference.

For those who want to witness on-site viewing of results, it will be available at the SC Courtyard from noon to 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, the oath-taking and roll-signing of the newly-passed lawyers will be held on January 24, 2025, Friday.

Last month, the high court confirmed the exact date of Bar 2024 results. The Supreme Court said in a notice to bar candidates that they will release results today.

12:41 pm:This is it! Program for the announcement of results is ongoing.

12:30 pm: SC said 2024 bar results are not yet out and advised spectators to wait for the official release. The deliberation is still ongoing.

11:58 am: Stand by for the 2024 Bar results. Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, Bar Chairperson, announces the Results of the 2024 Bar Examinations.

11:40 am: The courtyard of the Supreme Court is now open to the public for the results of the 2024 Bar examinations.

10:30 am: Justice Lopez in an interview disclosed that en banc deliberations would commence at 10 a.m.

10:10 am: The LED walls where the results of the 2024 Bar exam will be displayed are all set inside the courtyard of the Supreme Court.

10:00 am: "The Supreme Court website is currently under maintenance in preparation for the release of 2024 Bar Examinations results. Thank you for your patience," SC said in a flashed message on their website.

9:50 am: The livestream video for Bar 2024 results is now set. It will go live at 12 noon according to SC.

9:30 am: SC is now preparing the stage for Bar 2024 announcement.

1:00 am: The exact time of releasing of results depends on the time the Supreme Court en banc finishes its deliberations and decoding of the results.

After the decoding, Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, Chairperson of the 2024 Bar Examinations, will announce the results at the SC Courtyard.

Meanwhile, the high court said earlier this week that the scores of individual Bar takers are sensitive personal information under the Data Privacy Act. Thus, they cannot be disclosed without the prior consent of the examinees.

BAR 2024 OVERVIEW

Supreme Court said that over 10,000 takers completed the fourth digitalized and regionalized bar exams on September 8, 11, and 15, 2024 in 13 local testing centers nationwide.

Relative to the successful conduct of 2020-2021, 2022 and 2023 Bar Exams, the Supreme Court once again used a computer-based examination program that allows examinees to securely take a test using their own devices.

In the special en banc session today, 'decoding of bar exam results' will be done. Decoding is the process where the SC orders the Office of the Bar Confidant to open the sealed envelopes with the names of the candidates who successfully passed the exams.

The Philippine Bar Examination is the professional licensure examination for lawyers in the Philippines and the only professional exam not handled by PRC.

This prestigious exam is composed of the following subjects: Political and Public International Law (15%), Commercial and Taxation Laws (20%), Civil Law (20%), Labor Law and Social Legislation (10%), Criminal Law (10%) and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25%).

This will be the second time that SC implemented shortened schedule of tests from the usual four-Sunday-schedule into three days instead.

In the 2023 bar exams, SC announced that 3,812 out of 10,387 (36.77%) hurdled the tests.
