LIST: 25 Philippine Schools among Asia's Top Universities for 2025

MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines (UP) is still the nation’s best learning institution, according to the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings.

Every year, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), considered the world's largest international higher education network, releases its ranking of top universities in Asia. Leading universities in the Philippines have been consistently part of the Asian university ranking.

Considered the frontrunner among top universities in the country, UP slipped down by eight spots from last year. In the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings, it ranks 86th from its 2024 ranking of 78th.

The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) dropped by 5 spots this year with a ranking of 142nd, from its last year’s ranking of 137th.

De La Salle University (DLSU) was down by 9 points, landing at 163rd from last year's ranking of 154th.

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) dropped by 2 spots to 181, from the previous year’s ranking of 179th.

Aside from the Philippines’ top 4 schools in the QS Asian rankings, 21 more top universities are included in the list from all over the country.

Five universities secured spots in the Asian university rankings for the first time. This includes West Visayas State University, Angeles University Foundation, University of Southeastern Philippines, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, and University of Southern Mindanao.

The Central Luzon State University, Central Mindanao University, Central Philippine University, and Cebu Technological University have re-entered the list this year after a brief absence.

The 17th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia has a total of 984 institutions from 25 countries in Eastern, Southern, South-Eastern and Central Asia.

Peking University, with a perfect score of 100 in the 2025 QS Asian University Rankings, held the top spot for another year as the region's best institution. The University of Hong Kong, National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Fudan University in China completes the upper 5 spots.

QS deployed 11 indicators to assess the schools, namely academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, international research network, citations per paper and papers per faculty, staff with a Ph.D., proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students, proportion of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students.
