MANILA, Philippines – The 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) "Gabi ng Parangal" took place successfully on the evening of Friday, December 27, at Solaire Resort in Parañaque City.
Nearly all of the 10 entries in the 2024 MMFF won awards, with "Green Bones" by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs taking home the most honors and earning the title of "Best Picture."

Aside from Best Picture, Green Bones also won several other awards, including Best Actor (Dennis Trillo), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru Madrid), Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens).

On the other hand, despite Green Bones winning Best Picture, its director, Zig Dulay, did not win Best Director.
Instead, it was bagged by Crisanto Aquino of” My Future You” and Michael Tuviera of “The Kingdom.”
My Future You, led by Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz hailed as 3rd Best Picture, and “The Kingdom” by Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual won 2nd Best Picture.
Even though he didn't win Best Director, Zig was still happy with the film's win as Best Picture, during the acceptance speech.
“Last year, ang pelikula namin ay inalay namin sa mga nanay namin ni Miss Anj [Atienza],” he said, referring to “Firefly,” the Best Picture last MMFF 2023 which he did not win as well as Best Director.
“Itong pelikulang ito [Green Bones] ay inalay ng aming concept creator na si Sir JC [Rubio] sa kaniyang tatay na si Sir Zaldy Rubio. Para sa kaniya itong award na ito."
His happiness can also be seen in his Facebook post after the Gabi ng Parangal.
“OMG! Mga kapitbahay, BEST PICTURE ang GREEN BONES sa 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)! Maniwala sa kapangyarihan ng pagpapakabuti, pag-asa at sa kapangyarihan ng pangarap!” he said.
