In a Facebook post, the popular cardiologist shared the good news to his followers that there has been a dramatic reduction in the active cancer cells. Doc Willie recalled how the medical professionals in the Philippines had labeled his 16-cm sarcoma cancer as "hopeless" since it was already inoperable. He described his condition as “already at the brink of death.”

However, believing that there’s still hope, he and his family flew to Singapore to meet a Singaporean cancer specialist named Dr. Ang Peng Tiam of Parkway Cancer Center. Since then, Doc Willie has been receiving treatment, and in a span of six weeks, his sarcoma has shrunk dramatically. Dr. Tiam is known as the miracle worker because he has been able to prolong the lives of cancer patients, even those with stage 4 cancer.

The Singaporean oncologist was quoted describing Doc Willie’s condition as, "Sarcoma is one of the hardest cancers to treat.”

“I can only say that God loves you. I have not seen a sarcoma respond as quickly as yours,” he told Doc Willie.

Despite the good news, Doc Willie said that he still has a long way to go. He said that curing himself is just half of his battle plan, as he intends to fix the “broken healthcare system in our country.”

Dr. Liza Ong, Doc Willie's wife, has filed his Certificate of Candidacy for a Senate seat on his behalf. He has personally experienced the problems of our healthcare system and aims to improve it as well as help stop the widespread corruption.

Earlier, Lawyer Gilbert Lauengco, Doc Willie’s legal counsel, shared that his client is very much able to serve the country despite his conditions if he does win.

He said, “He knows and understands that his sickness is not something that will debilitate him from doing that. There will be times it will be tough and he will fight for it but he's very confident that he would be very physically fit in the event that he wins to perform the duties of a senator.”
