CSC announces Civil Service Exam 2025 schedule, requirements

MANILA, Philippines – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced on October 4, 2024 the conduct of Career Service Examination, Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for Professional and SubProfessional Levels for 2025. View here the schedule of filing applications, requirements and all important details.

CSC will administer the civil service exam in two batches – March 2, 2025 and August 10, 2025.

Application for March 2, 2025 CSE-PPT runs from November 19, 2024 until January 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, the application period for August 10, 2025 will be from May 12, 2025 until June 11, 2025.

The agency will also conduct Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO) on January 26, 2025 and Basic Competency on Local Treasury Examination (BCLTE) on June 1, 2025.

Note: For CSE Professional and SubProfessional levels, release of results is set at 69 days after exam in light of the 350,500 maximum exam slots, effecting additional 10 days to the computed Program Expenditure Classification (PREXC)-based 59-day-after-exam release of test results for CY 2025 for exam slots of up to 300,000. The additional 10 days are calculated at 1 day for every 5,000 exam slots in excess of 300,000. However, this may be subject to adjustment depending on the actual number of examinees.

CIVIL SERVICE ELIGIBILITY

The CSE is a general ability test designed to measure an individual’s preparedness to enter government service. Passing the CSE would result in the conferment of either Professional or Subprofessional eligibility that is needed, among others, for permanent appointment to corresponding career service positions in the government except those that involve the practice of profession or are covered by special laws.

NOTE: CSC has granted 11 eligibilities to qualified individuals. Even without passing the CSE, qualified individuals are still considered fit for government service if they belong to the listed exemptions and passed the requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. Filipino citizen;

2. At least 18 years old on the date of filing of application;

3. Of good moral character;

4. Has not been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or addiction to dr*gs;

5. Has not been dishonorably discharged from military service, or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government; and

6. Has not taken the same level of Career Service Examination, either through PPT or CSC Computerized Examination (CSC COMEX), within three months before the date of examination:

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Fully accomplished application form (CS Form No. 100, Revised 2023 – Career Service-Professional/Career Service-SubProfessional) available in CSC Regional/Field Offices, or can be downloaded from the CSC website and printed on legal size bond paper;

2. Four copies of passport size ID pictures with handwritten name tag legibly showing signature over printed full name;

3. Original and photocopy of any of the valid ID cards accepted for the civil service exam; and

4. Examination fee of P500.

Additionally, applicants should contact the CSC Regional or Field Office where they plan to take the examination for information on the modes of application filing and the corresponding procedures. A complete directory of CSC offices nationwide is available on the CSC website (www.csc.gov.ph).

EXAMINATION VENUE

Examinees shall be informed of their places of examination (school assignment) through the Online Notice of School Assignment (ONSA).

ONSA shall be available via the CSC website www.csc.gov.ph approximately two weeks before examination day. Examinees may opt to have a print-out of their Notice of School Assignment using ONSA for their personal reference, but, this is not mandatory and is not a requirement.

Examinees who cannot access the ONSA and/or still do not know their school assignment one week before examination day should inquire directly with the CSC Regional/Field Office concerned. A complete directory of CSC Regional/Field Offices nationwide is available at the CSC website.

SCOPE OF EXAMINATION AND OTHER INFORMATION

The CSE-PPT covered the following subjects (In English and Filipino):

Professional Level (Prof):

  • Numerical Ability (basic operations, word problems)
  • Analytical Ability (word association, identifying assumptions and conclusions, logic, data interpretation)
  • Verbal Ability (grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, reading comprehension)

SubProfessional Level (SubProf):

  • Numerical Ability (basic operations, word problems)
  • Clerical Ability (filing, spelling)
  • Verbal Ability (grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, reading comprehension)

General information items on the following for both levels:

  • Philippine Constitution;
  • Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713);
  • Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts; and
  • Environment Management and Protection

PASSING GRADE AND RELEASE OF RESULTS

To pass the test, an examinee should get a general rating of at least 80.00.

The List of Passers shall be uploaded/posted on the CSC website www.csc.gov.ph within 60 days after the examination.

Examinees can generate their examination rating through OCSERGS or Online Civil Service Examination Result Generation System which can also be accessed through the CSC website. Generation of examination rating through OCSERGS shall be available approximately 15 days after the ceiling date of posting of the List of Passers, or as indicated in the corresponding issuance/advisory.
