MANILA, Philippines – Some local government units have decided to cancel classes for Thursday, September 19, 2024, due to the bad weather brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat enhanced by Tropical Depression Gener and Tropical Storm Helen.

PAGASA weather forecast
State weather bureau PAGASA said that Tropical Storm 'Helen' exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 5:00 pm on Wednesday.
'Bagyong Helen' has maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 105 km/h, and central pressure of 994 hPa.
No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently in effect.
The Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Gener and Helen will also bring strong to gale-force gusts in several areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds).
PAGASA said heavy to intense rains are expected in Zambales and Bataan until Thursday due to the southwest monsoon.
Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will likewise experience moderate to heavy rainfall within the same period.
No other Low Pressure Areas are being monitored for Tropical Cyclone formation.
