‘Takot sa Math' turns top 6 in May 2022 Civil Engineering Licensure Exam, follows bro's footsteps

Are you ready to face the things you fear just to achieve your dreams?

That is what Angelo Hinayas Sigue from Lapu-Lapu City, a graduate of Cebu Technological University (CTU), did when he placed 6th in the May 2022 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination with a rating of 92.60%.

In an interview with a local newspaper in Cebu, Angelo admitted that Mathematics was his weakness, his "waterloo." He really struggled with it. However, when his older brother Ramel ranked 9th in the May 2015 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, Ramel became his idol and inspiration, leading him to follow in his footsteps.

Aside from that, Engineering wasn't really his first field of choice. But because he wanted to follow in his older brother's footsteps, he also pursued this profession. To improve, he immersed himself more in Math subjects by joining contests and quiz bees in the subject.

When the board exam results were released, it was Ramel himself who woke him up to tell him that not only had he passed, but he was also among the topnotchers. In addition to working as a civil engineer, Angelo plans to pursue a master’s degree to further hone his skills in the field he once feared.

His advice to fellow aspiring engineers was to maintain their passion and always stay focused on their goals. When the time is right, what they seek will come to them. Also, keep praying and always give their best effort.

Congratulations, Engr. Angelo Sigue!
