In anything, with the multitude of tasks people do today, one of the keys to success is intense time and task management.
Just like Jike Dumlao Alcain, 39, from Mabalacat, Pampanga (originally from Iloilo), who graduated with a degree in BS Environmental and Sanitary Engineering from the National University-Manila and placed 4th in the August 2024 Sanitary Engineering Licensure Examination.

In an exclusive interview with The Summit Express, Jike said he currently has two jobs: he is the General Manager of Jalacain Engineering Services and a guest lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Holy Angel University in Pampanga.
According to Jike, he pursued a degree program related to Sanitary Engineering because, as the general manager of a company he has been with for several years, they needed a sanitary engineer to sign and seal Sanitary Engineering Plans.
Jike mentioned that the conflict between his work schedule and school was a problem for him while he was in college and even during his review period.
“While still studying my last term at NU, I already enrolled at Intense Review Center in advance so I will not cram during the last few months before the board exam,” he said.
Jike also admitted that while he was reviewing for the licensure exam, he prayed to pass and to be among the topnotchers, which indeed happened.
“I immediately thanked God for granting my prayer to be in the top 4. It was the exact prayer I asked for,” he said.
What are his plans now that he has already passed the board exam?
“Continue to work in my company. This time, I can already sign and seal Sanitary Plans on top of being a Professional Mechanical Engineer, Registered Master Plumber, and Registered Electrical Engineer,” he explained.
What message does he have for board takers who also dream of passing the board exam or becoming a topnotcher?
“Focus on the goal of passing the boards (being a topnotcher), work for it, and pray for it. No secret ingredient. Just faith and work will do,” he said.
Congratulations, Engr. Jike!
