Personnel of the Coast Guard Station (CGS) identified the rescued fisherman to be 49-year-old Robin Dejillo, a resident of Barangay Dinahican, Infanta, Quezon.
Dejillo was said to have ventured the sea near his hometown in Infanta and was reported missing on August 4.
His motorbanca ran out of gas and he couldn't return to their mother boat due to strong winds and large currents. Without any means to call for help, Dejillo survived by drinking rainwater and eating fish and coconuts floating at sea.
The man floated on his motorbanca for more than 1 month– 46 days, and traveled 635 kilometers, until he reached Batanes.
It was there where the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Batanes spotted his white motorbanca floating.
He was finally rescued at the Port of Basco and was taken for medical care at the Batanes General Hospital on September 19.
