'Mananagot ka, Apollo Quiboloy!'— Sen. Risa Hontiveros

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Risa Hontiveros issued her statement regarding the news of the apprehension of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy on Sunday, September 8, based on the post by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos.

Hontiveros, the chair of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, exposed the alleged illegal activities of Quiboloy towards members of the religion he founded.

The so-called “Son of God” is facing charges of sexual abuse, child abuse, violence, and human trafficking.

In the senator's latest Facebook post, it can be read that Quiboloy will be held accountable by the law, and his reign of power will come to an end.

“Mananagot ka, Apollo Quiboloy. You cannot outrun the law. You will not further delay justice,” she said.

“Abot kamay na ng mga victim-survivors ang hustisya, salamat sa kanilang paglalakas-loob na magsabi ng katotohanan."

“We commend our law enforcement agencies for their tireless efforts and dedication, despite Quiboloy's tactics.”

“Magpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon ng Senado para matuldukan ang sistematikong pang-aabuso sa mga pinakabulnerable sa lipunan.”

“Bilang na ang araw ng tulad nilang naghahari-harian, nambabastos sa batas, at nang-aabuso sa kababaihan, kabataan, at kapwa nating Pilipino.”

The apprehension of Quiboloy was confirmed by Abalos on his Facebook post around 6:23 in the evening of Sunday, September 8.

“Nahuli na si Pastor Quiboloy!” he said.

He reiterated it in a separate Facebook post.

“NAHULI NA PO SI APOLLO QUIBOLOY,” he captioned.

Included in the post is a photo of Abalos, Quiboloy, and his legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon.

The Philippine National Police has been actively seeking Quiboloy, who is currently subject to three arrest warrants. One was issued by the Senate in March, while the other two were issued by courts in Pasig City and elsewhere in April, related to allegations of sexual abuse, child abuse, violence, and human trafficking.
