MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Quezon province and was felt in nearby regions including Metro Manila on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tremor, happened at 7:16 AM, was initially measured by Phivolcs at 5.6-magnitude.
The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers about 37 kilometers northeast of Jomalig, Quezon.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was of tectonic origin.
Readers of The Summit Express shared they felt the earthquake in the following areas: Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quirino Province, Camarines Norte, Manila, Pasay and Pasig.

Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected but no damage is anticipated following the tremor.
