Filipina Law student graduates 'Magna Cum Laude' from a university in UK

It's a source of pride not only for the family but for the entire Philippines when we hear success stories of Filipinos excelling and being recognized abroad, especially in the academe.

Just like The Summit Express' avid reader, Seraphim Gerella, who proudly shared that his daughter, Maria Maxene Marcos Gerella, excelled in the United Kingdom in her Bachelor of Laws.

Proud parents Engr. Seraphim S. Gerella and Gigi Lyn M. Marcos, along with the whole community of Barangay Calaylayan in Abucay, Bataan are celebrating their daughter’s achievement as she graduated with Honours - Class II Division I. (Upper Second Class which is equivalent to Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

The commencement exercises were held last July 5, 2024.

Maria Maxene's path to success began at Doha British School in Qatar, where she earned the Principal Award, the equivalent of Valedictorian, in the International Baccalaureate program. She also placed in the top 1% worldwide in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

She is now employed as a Paralegal with the National Health System (NHS) in Leeds City, UK.

Congratulations, Maria Maxene!
