Top 9 of April 2024 Midwife Licensure Exam admits midwifery is not her dream profession

“TOPPING THE BOARD EXAM BECAUSE THE WORLD DIDN'T END WHEN I DIDN'T GET TO PURSUE MY DREAM COURSE/PROFESSION.”

Many were inspired by the Facebook post of Rena Lei Millares Torcuato, who ranked 9th in the April 2024 Midwifery Licensure Examination, after she revealed that being a midwife was never really her dream job or profession.

Even though it wasn't her first ambition, she mentioned that one person inspired her to pursue midwifery, which motivated her to excel in her studies and in taking the board exam.

Her efforts paid off as she became one of the national board topnotchers in the midwifery licensure examination just this April.

“Hindi ko naman to pinangarap nung una, pero someone inspires me na I should always reach for the stars. From manifesting, that became reality,” she said in her Facebook post last July 9.

“I can now proudly say that, I'M A NATIONAL BOARD EXAM TOPNOTCHER. Hindi ito magiging possible kung wala yung mga taong laging sumusuporta sakin,” she added.

Rena expressed her gratitude to the clinical instructors and the principal of their department at her alma mater, Cavite State University, saying that all the lectures, advice, exams, and rationales they taught their students were worth it.

She also thanked everyone who helped her achieve her dream, especially her friends and parents.

In an exclusive interview with The Summit Express, Rena shared that her first dream job or profession was actually to become a nurse. However, she and her classmates were failed by one of their professors, in one of their major subjects. Since she still wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, she chose midwifery, as it was the closest to nursing.

Congratulations, Rena!
