‘Relationship goals!’ Married couple finishes med school with flying colors

"Relationship goals" is a term often used to describe aspects of a relationship that people admire or aspire to in their own lives. The phrase is frequently used on social media, where people might post pictures or stories of couples doing something romantic, supportive, or fun, labeling them as "relationship goals."

For example, a couple traveling together, showing consistent support for each other, or maintaining a playful and loving connection over time could be considered "relationship goals." The term reflects the qualities people look up to and want to emulate in their own relationships.

Just like Khrista and Nicholas Racelis, a married couple recently featured on ABS-CBN News, graduated at the top of their class from medical school on July 21, despite the challenges of being married and raising a child. Both took gap years before starting medical school—8 years for Khrista and 9 years for Nicholas—due to financial constraints.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Khrista shared that she felt a lot of pressure during the years she wasn't in school. "I wished I was there with them, progressing alongside my peers. There was a mix of envy, wondering why I still hadn't started medical school while others had already graduated and specialized. Meanwhile, I hadn't even begun," she expressed.

During those gap years, Khrista and Nicholas worked as nurses at the Department of Health. They decided to get married just a month before the academic year started, and in the same month, they resigned from their jobs to focus entirely on their studies. Reflecting on their decision, they said, "It was a leap of faith."

Khrista and Nicholas were scholars of the Department of Health. While awaiting the results of their scholarship grant, they were asked what their plans would be if they didn't pass.

Despite the challenges, the couple demonstrated their ability to overcome anything. Khrista graduated as cum laude and class valedictorian, while Nicholas ranked in the Top 3 of their class.

Congratulations!
