MANILA, Philippines – One Filipina muay thai fighter is currently on the rise and leading the world rankings.
She is Islay Erika Bomogao from Benguet.

Bomogao currently sits at the top spot in International Federation of Muay Thai Associations rankings for 45 kg female elite athletes.
Bomogao recently grabbed the victory against Australia's Muay Thai state champion Sarah Kwa in the match in Kenwick, Australia.
Because of the victory, the muay thai fighter was hailed as the first Filipina muay thai champion.
Meanwhile, the University of Baguio sent their congratulations for their former student Bomogao.
"University of Baguio alumna, Islay Erika Bomogao, achieved the #1 ranking in the Women's 45kg Division announced by the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA). Congratulations on this incredible achievement, Islay Erika!"
Overall, Bomogao gained 1,920 points to snatch the top spot.
The Muaythai Association of the Philippines also recognized Bomogao's achievement.
