The 24-year-old Yulo showcased his prowess in the men’s vault bagging first place with a 15.116 score for his two vaults in the finals, where he upped the difficulty level of his first attempt.

This is the Philippines' second gold medal of Paris 2024 Olympics and a golden chapter in the country's gymnastics history.

"From winning the first-ever gold for the Philippines in floor exercise to claiming another gold on the vault, Carlos has not only brought home two incredible victories but has also set a new standard in gymnastics," the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) said.

Armenia’s Artur Davtyan finished with the silver with a 14.966.

Great Britain' Harry Hepworth, who set the pace early, fell to bronze while his fellow Briton Jake Jarman was bumped off the podium.

On Saturday, Yulo made history claiming the gold medal in the men's floor exercise final with a score of 15.000. It's the first medal of any color for the Philippines in gymnastics and just our second Olympic gold ever after Hidilyn Diaz won the Women's 55 kg event in weightlifting in Tokyo.

In 2021, Yulo finished fourth in the vault event of the Tokyo games and a dismal 44th in the floor exercise.
