MANILA, Philippines – Philippine gymnast Carlos Yulo clinched the country's second gold medal in Olympics on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

The 24-year-old Yulo showcased his prowess in the men's floor exercise bagging first place with perfect 15.00 score.

This is the Philippines' first gold medal of Paris 2024, the first for a male Philippine athlete and the first in artistic gymnastics.

Artem Dolgopyat from Israel settled for silver medal with a score of 14.966.
This served as a bounce back win for Yulo after a 12th place finish in the men's artistic gymnastics individual all-around finals last Thursday.
In the qualification round, Yulo was ranked as the second best gymnast.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Filipino-British gymnast Jake Jarman who topped the qualification, secured bronze after his 14.933 score.
Yulo will still have the vault apparatus on Sunday, August 4 where he will try to bring home another gold for the country.
In 2021, Yulo finished fourth in the vault event of the Tokyo games and a dismal 44th in the floor exercise.
