MANILA, Philippines – The 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) had its grand launch on Tuesday, July 16, at the Bulwagang Villegas in Manila City Hall.
50th MMFF organizers announced the first batch of official entries for the 50th MMFF.

The theme for this year’s MMFF is “SineSigla sa Singkwenta.” This event marks the golden jubilee celebration of the film festival, usually held from December 25 up to January 7, in line with the Yuletide season.
The first batch of films included in the official entries has been unveiled, selected from 39 script submissions.
Here’s the first batch of movies for MMFF 2024:
1. "And The Breadwinner Is ..." by ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. & The Ideafirst Company starring Vice Ganda and Eugene Domingo
2. "Green Bones" by GMA Pictures starring Sofia Pablo and Dennis Trillo
3. "Strange Frequencies: Haunted Hospital" by Reality MM Studios, INC., 4. starring Jane de Leon, Enrique Gil, Alexa Miro and MJ Lastimosa
4. "Himala Isang Musikal" by Kapitol Films/Unitel starring Aicelle Santos and Bituin Escalante
5. "The Kingdom" ATP/Mzet and MQuest starring Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual
It is notable that this marks the MMFF comeback of Vice Ganda and Vic Sotto, whose films are consistently box office hits. For most of them, including Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual, this will be the first time they are working together on a film for the MMFF.
For Enrique Gil, this is his second film following "I Am Not Big Bird," which marked his comeback after a showbiz hiatus.
