According to the report from GMA News, Chino’s daughter Floresse Trinidad confirmed her father's passing on Saturday night, July 13.

Trinidad succumbed to a heart attack while he was on the way to a supposed meeting in Newport World Resorts with Efren "Bata" Reyes and other personalities.

He was rushed to San Juan de Dios Hospital, where he died.

Apart from his daughter, online music streamer of Pinoy Rock Radio Online Paulo Legaspi also earlier posted about the sad news.

"REST IN PARADISE Sir Manolo Chino Trinidad ...." can be read in his tribute post.

On Chino's Facebook account, there were no posts that the sports analyst had been sick or hospitalized.

In fact, in his last post on July 12, Chino appeared to be in good spirits with Coach Nemie Villegas.

"PROVERBS 24 | Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered.

Coach Nemie Villegas is one who offers a smile wherever and whenever you see him.

But don’t let that demeanor fool you.

He knows his game. And he knows the true measure of a person.

Salamat Coach Nemie for a hearty brunch," he said.

In the comments section, his Facebook friends and followers expressed their condolences and shock.

Trinidad was appointed in May as the new commissioner of the Sharks Billiards Association, the nation’s inaugural professional billiards league.

As a second-generation sports journalist, he is the son of Recah Trinidad, a longtime sports columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Chino was also renowned for his fervent passion for basketball, serving as the eighth commissioner of the now-defunct Philippine Basketball League from 2000 to 2010.

After departing from GMA, he established a cable channel named Pilipinas HD and organized an exhibit titled “Pagpupugay: 100 Taon ng Philippine Sports,” which received a minor citation from the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) in 2015.
