Paris 2024: Nesthy Petecio advances to boxing Round of 16 with dominant win

MANILA, Philippines – Pinay boxer Nesthy Petecio shows an incredible performance in Paris 2024 Olympics as she managed to get a dominant win against Jaismine Lamboria of India at the Round of 32 women's 57 kg division on Wednesday, July 31 (Philippine time).

At the start of the match, Petecio's face showed that she was ready to step into the boxing ring of the Olympics again.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist was not intimidated by the bigger opponent from India and quickly showed her talent in the boxing ring.

In the whole three rounds of the fight, Petecio put on a show and earned a unanimous decision win.

Judges score: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

"Sobrang magandang simula po siya sa akin, sa amin ng team at sana magtuloy-tuloy kasi next kalaban namin France," Petecio said in an interview with One Sports.

"Sobrang laking tulong ng maririnig mo yung mga crowd po na sinisigaw yung Pilipinas sobrang nakaka-hype po eh," the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist added.

Next up for Petecio is Amina Zidani of France. The fight is set on Saturday, August 3 (Philippine time).

Other Pinoy boxers to watch out for the Paris 2024 Olympics are Aira Villegas, Carlo Paalam and Hergie Bacyadan.
