“Nagmahal. Nasaktan. Nag-Cum Laude. Nakapasa sa board exam!”

After the painful ghosting by his first love, Bench Lee Abadilla, 23, from Cebu, graduated as Cum Laude and he also passed the April 2023 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination.

“Thank you for ghosting me, Engineer na ako ngayon,” Abadilla captioned on his Facebook post.

In an interview, Bench, a first-year engineering student at the time, met a nursing student who was the first to make his heart beat faster. However, because they attended different universities and he was focused on his studies during that period, they rarely saw each other.

Bench admitted that his priority while he was still studying was to graduate with honors. He wanted to achieve Latin honors, so he focused his attention on his studies.

His girlfriend suddenly stopped communicating with him. Though he was hurt by what happened, he did not let it stop him from achieving his dreams. He successfully graduated from college in 2022 as a Cum Laude from Cebu Institute of Technology - University.

After college, he prepared for the April 2023 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Exam by diligently reviewing at a review center from November 2022 until April 2023. On May 3, the exam results were released, and Abadilla was one of the 3,339 examinees who successfully passed and is now a fully-fledged electrical engineer.

“Biggest takeaway ko po ay isipin muna kapakanan or kung paano maka-giveback sa parents po. ‘Yung lovelife kasi darating ‘yan. Alam ko naman na ibibigay ‘yan ni Lord sa tamang panahon,” he said.

For the next chapter of his life, Abadilla said he plans to further enhance the skills he developed over the years of hard work in order to continue his personal growth.
