Criminology grad pays tribute to late parents in heartwarming graduation photo

For a graduating student, dedicating the success of graduation to their parents is incredibly fulfilling. But what if both parents have already passed away?

A Facebook post by a university-based community page in Bulacan brought netizens to tears after Angelo Cuevo, a 21-year-old criminology graduate from Plaridel, Bulacan, dedicated his hard-earned diploma to his late parents.

Based on the viral Facebook post by BulSU Capture, Cuevo stated that the best gift he could give to his late parents was earning his degree in Bachelor of Science in Criminology.

#BCTogaStory: "Hello BulSU Capture.

In an interview, Cuevo shared that his father passed away in November 2022 when he was in his third year of college. Just a few months later, on March 14, 2023, his mother also passed away. Cuevo also clarified that he had made a mistake in the dates of his parents' deaths in his statement to BulSU Capture.

When his parents died, Cuevo was left alone in their house. His older sister lived in another house they owned in a neighboring barangay. Since his aunt and grandmother were his neighbors, he didn't have trouble with food as they provided for him. He used his parents' savings to continue his studies, and he eventually graduated from Bulacan State University in Malolos, Bulacan, on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Even though both of his parents are gone, he knows they are happy and proud of him wherever they are now.
