MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) and schools announced suspension of face-to-face classes for Tuesday, April 2, 2024, due to the anticipated hot weather condition.
The Department of Education (DepEd) earlier said that some schools are implementing alternative delivery mode, including online and modular methods amid the suspension of classes.
“All on alternative delivery mode. Only Face to face is suspended,” DepEd Asec. Francis Bringas told reporters.
Based on the PAGASA’s latest recorded heat index, a total of nine areas recorded indexes classified as “danger category” on Monday. This includes Dagupan City in Pangasinan, Baler in Aurora, Aborlan in Palawan, Pili in Camarines Sur, Roxas City in Capiz, Dumangas in Iloilo, Catarman in Northern Samar and Cotabato in Maguindanao.

METRO MANILA
- Muntinlupa City – morning classes shortened until 10 am (public); afternoon classes suspended for preschool to senior high school (public)
- Quezon City – face-to-face classes on all day care centers, alternative learning system, elementary and secondary levels (public); will shift to either asynchronous or synchronous classes
SOUTHERN LUZON
- Laguna
- Cabuyao City – face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school (public)
CENTRAL LUZON
- Bulacan
- Calumpit – face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school (public)
- Malolos City – face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school (public; until April 3
- Pangasinan
- Dagupan City – face-to-face classes
- Mangaldan – face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school (public and private)
VISAYAS
- Bacolod City - face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school. However, private schools with air-conditioned rooms and tertiary-level institutions may exercise their discretion to continue with face-to-face classes
- Negros Occidental
- Bago City – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private
- EB Magalona – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private
- Hinoba-an – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private
- Silay City – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private; shift to modular mode of instruction in all levels
- Talisay City – face-to-face classes, preschool to senior high school, public and private, but private schools with air-conditioned rooms may may continue with face-to-face classes
- Iloilo City – face-to-face classes for preschool to senior high school, public and private
MINDANAO
- Tantangan, South Cotabato – afternoon face-to-face classes in all levels; until April 15
