The Top 1 of the November 2023 Licensure Examination for Midwives, Janelle Toledo Fauni, admitted that before she even entered any degree program, she had dreamed and manifested becoming a topnotcher in the board exam. However, she also admitted that she sees herself as "knowledgeable" or just at an average level.

That's Janelle's sharing during an interview with an entertainment site after she ranked no. 1 in the aforementioned board exam with a rating of 91.65%. Janelle, who hails from Tagaytay City in Cavite, shared that she is the second of three siblings and followed in her mother's footsteps in becoming a midwife, even though her initial desire was to pursue a degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Because she realized she wanted to obtain a license, she also decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, but she was not fortunate enough to pass the admission test of her dream school, the University of the Philippines-Manila. However, she was lucky to be accepted at Cavite State University, where she pursued midwifery.
Janelle felt that she wasn't enough and not particularly skilled, so she doubled her efforts to keep up with her classmates somehow. Even though she didn't graduate with flying colors, Janelle targeted passing the board exam despite facing numerous challenges, such as the proximity of the review center from Cavite to Manila, and the difficulty in absorbing the information she was reviewing.
During the actual exam, Janelle encountered a mix of questions. Some were easy, some were difficult, and there were questions where she wasn't sure whether her answers were correct or not. There were even moments when she paused in answering, prayed, and didn't care if the proctor saw her in front.
When the results of the board exam came out, Janelle was in a movie house to watch a concert by Taylor Swift. She deliberately uninstalled her social media platforms because she was afraid of knowing the result. However, her mother couldn't contain her excitement and called her just to tell her that she passed and even topped the exam!
So she shed tears of joy while watching Taylor Swift. She dedicated her success to her family, friends, teachers, and especially to her mother, whom she followed in her footsteps. Janelle reportedly plans to continue her studies and pursue the Nursing degree she desired.
On November 10, 2023, her Facebook post about this matter can be read.

Mula sa unang tapak ko sa CvSU, I made a wish for myself- I wish to leave a mark in the institution. Pero hindi ko alam sa paanong paraan, it’s just a random wish and somehow weird kasi ‘yun ang pinanghawakan ko hanggang sa maka-graduate ako.
Sa lahat ng ginagawa ko sa pagpasok at pagduty, I always give my best. Kasi nga naman if not now, then when? I just didn’t expect na lahat ng best na ibinibigay ko ay magbubunga in its perfect time.
Thank you so much, Cavite State University for letting me be a part of one of the best institutions in the country. To the entire CvSU community, I hope I made you guys proud.
Maraming maraming salamat po, College of Nursing, maging sa lahat ng clinical instructors ng Department of Midwifery, for bringing out the best sa aming lahat since day 1.
To Starsnklbaguio Topnotchers, maraming salamat po sa lahat ng itinuro niyo sa amin. Ang dami ko pong babauning knowledge and that’s because of you.
To Toprank, salamat po sa inyo grabe sobrang solid! Ang knowledge at memories na ibinigay niyo sa amin ay babaunin namin forever.
To my family and friends, I hope I made you proud. Sa mga nakakita ng journey ko, lahat ng struggles and efforts na ibinigay ko. Maraming salamat for being there for me the entire time.
To those who have a lot of dreams, just believe in yourself. Lahat ng pagod ay magiging worth it at the end. Just do your best and you’ll get there- in God’s perfect time.
Mabuhay ang lahat ng Midwife! 🫶🏼
All for You, Lord! ☝🏻,” she said.
Congratulations, Janelle!
