Passing the board exam and getting a license in the chosen profession is already fulfilling, but what if you add two more?
That's the success story of Engr. Kathreen Louise Del Rosario, magna cum laude graduate of Bulacan State University (BSU)-Malolos in 2016.
Her degree program was Civil Engineering.
Not only did she pass one licensure exam, but she also topped three!
She ranked eighth in the November 2016 Civil Engineering board exam. She placed fourth in the Master Plumber board exam in February 2017. And finally, she also ranked fifth in the September 2017 Materials Engineer Accreditation Examination.
In an interview, Kathreen mentioned that during high school, she wasn't active in class. She described herself as "easy-go-lucky." Initially, her parents wanted her to pursue Nursing in college, just like her mother. However, during that time, there were reports that Nursing wasn't in high demand, and many schools offering it were closing down. So, she opted for her second choice, Civil Engineering. Her parents agreed to her decision.
It seems that Kathreen was truly destined for Civil Engineering because there were reportedly no vacant slots for her, but thankfully, God made a way. Moreover, during that time, the degree program she entered wasn't really in her heart because she had already set her mind on pursuing Nursing.
When it comes to reviewing for the board exam, Kathreen reportedly didn't really aspire to be a topnotcher. However, she ended up topping the pre-board exam, which made her feel pressured. Nonetheless, she didn't fail because in the actual exam, she indeed emerged as a topnotcher.
In addition to the incentives she received for being a topnotcher, Kathreen also received incentives from the review centers where she reviewed.
Her only advice to board takers is to avoid social media for a while to focus on studying.
As of 2021, Kathreen works as a structural design engineer at Arcadis GEC Manila and as a review instructor at Review Innovations, Inc.
Congratulations, Engr. Kathreen!
