Any hardship, when persevered through, can serve as a bridge towards reaching dreams!
Teacher Melanie Figueroa from Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte is very happy because the first recipient of her project "Laptop Para sa Pangarap," Dennis C. Balagbis graduated from college with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology on February 2—as a cum laude!
"Happy to share lang, after 4 years 😊 the very first recipient of Laptop Para sa Pangarap graduated this morning with latin honors," Teacher Melanie shared on her Facebook post.
"Had I not met Dennis 4 years ago there will be no Laptop Para sa Pangarap project ( 6 more to go 😊). #LAPTOPPARASAPANGARAP," aniya.
What is “Laptop Para sa Pangarap?”
In an interview with The Summit Express, Teacher Melanie said that she started her endeavor to help deserving students who couldn't afford to buy laptops during the peak of the pandemic, especially when online classes were the mode of teaching.
Kawawa naman po,” she said.
Luckily, she said, she has friends who extend help to students with every Facebook post she makes.
She formally called the project “Laptop Para sa Pangarap.”
After almost four years, she continues with her endeavors. The first recipient is now a certified graduate, with latin honors, and soon to be an electrical engineer!
Congratulations, Dennis and Teacher Melanie!
