Two PNU students from Quezon to be the first teachers in their ethnic tribe

No matter how cliché it may sound, education is something that can never be stolen from anyone. Everyone has the right to attain it, regardless of their status in life, gender, and the ethnolinguistic group they belong to.

Netizens on Facebook were impressed by a post from someone named "Dr. Roel Avila,” a professor from the Philippine Normal University (PNU) South Luzon Campus (Lopez, Quezon) after he showcased two students, Dahlia and Janeth Jugueta, who he claimed were enrolled in an education degree program and are expected to become the first teachers from their ethnic tribe.

Avila's post reads, "Dahlia and Janeth (both Jugueta) dream of becoming the first teachers of their ethnic tribe in the 4th Congressional District of Quezon. They are now students of PNUSL and strive to finish BMSEE and serve their people. God bless these ladies and their plans! Are there still people with good hearts to extend their helping hands?"

According to the website of PNU, the Bachelor in Mathematics and Science Elementary Education program (BMSEE) is a special and innovative elementary education program that aims to produce elementary teachers who are highly competent in teaching mathematics and science in the elementary grades, particularly in the intermediate levels and in science-oriented elementary schools. As a program that develops elementary teachers with specializations in mathematics and science, BMSEE is the first of its kind in the country.
