As they say, if you really want to achieve something, you need to work hard for it and persevere. It is necessary to prepare for it immediately if you truly want to reach or attain it.
But a different kind of Criminology student is Placido Villanueva Abuan III from University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City because, even as a freshman or first-year college student, he had already prepared for the board exam with the desire to be among the topnotchers. He did not disappoint because he landed as the Top 8 in the April 2023 Criminology Licensure Exam (CLE).
Featured on the "Igorotage" page, it is said that Abuan took his subjects seriously during his undergraduate studies, and he thought of it as something he was already doing for the board exam.
Abuan's determination, dedication, and hard work paid off as he achieved a rating of 87.60%, landing him in the Top 8 out of 4,139 passers in that board exam.
Abuan's desire to become a topnotcher is rooted not only for himself but also for his family. He saw it as a way to repay the efforts of his parents in supporting his education. Being a topnotcher, he believed, was just the icing on the cake because completing his studies and passing the exam were already significant gifts for them. Of course, he accompanied his diligence and hard work with prayers to God.
He also gave some tips on how to be successful in the board exam. First, he emphasized the importance of having a study habit schedule that needs to be followed.
Second, he made sure to incorporate relaxation and breaks, recognizing the significance of recharging to avoid burnout. Third, he maximized his resources, including professors, the library, and all available materials, whether physical or online. He also didn't hesitate to join group studies with classmates and friends.
Fourth, he advised not to lose heart. Life is not easy, he acknowledged, as there are many challenges to face, but if you know your goals, there's no reason to stop and give up.
He plans to take his master’s degree program and embark on his new journey.
Congratulations, Placido!
