'Just try until you succeed!' TNT Season 7 Grand Winner is a four-time resbaker

MANILA, Philippines – As the saying goes, "keep trying until you achieve success." No matter how many times you fail or stumble, as long as you're passionate about what you're doing and it leads toward your dreams, just keep moving forward until you reach your intended destination.

Just like the Grand Winner of the singing competition "Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT)" Season 7 on the noontime show "It's Showtime," Rea Gen Villarreal, who, similar to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, took three attempts before clinching the crown and title, she, on the other hand, made four attempts!

Rea, hailing from Caloocan, made a remarkable comeback as she secured the coveted title of Tawag ng Tanghalan Year 7 Grand Champion on 'It’s Showtime' on Saturday, January 27. Rea, who had attempted a comeback four times, emerged victorious among the five grand finalists in the seventh season of the singing competition. Her competitors included Jhon Padua, Aboodi Yandog, Eunice Encarnada, and Vensor Domasig, who stepped in for Joy Escalante due to a health emergency.

Her exceptional rendition of a medley by the Filipino vocal group The Company captivated both the judges and the audience, securing her a place in the final round alongside Eunice and Vensor.

During the 'Huling Tapatan' second round, Rea performed her unique interpretation of the iconic Filipino band Eraserheads' song 'Ang Huling El Bimbo', solidifying her fourth year in the competition with an impressive score of 97.4.

The gifted vocalist took part in the TNT singing competition for three consecutive years - 2017 (TNT season 2), 2020, and 2021.

Rea openly admits that she has considered stopping her participation in televised singing contests several times. However, because of the support and encouragement from her family, friends, and supporters, she finds the strength to keep fighting. Apparently, 2024 is the destined year for her. As the Grand Champion, she was awarded a talent management contract with Polaris under Star Magic, a contract with ABS-CBN Music, and a cash prize of PHP 1 million.

Congratulations, Rea!
