MANILA, Philippines – Who says that a person's beauty stops when they get older?
A 69-year-old fashion designer will strut the runway and compete against other candidates in the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines-Quezon City (MUPHQC).
Officially introduced, senior citizen Jocelyn Cubales is presented as one of the candidates in the mentioned beauty pageant. The winner of this pageant will become the representative for Miss Universe Philippines, where they will then represent the entire country in the prestigious Miss Universe competition.
“Meet Jocelyn Cubales. At 69 years old, she believes that the younger generation can learn a lot from her life experiences, most especially grit. See her give light to the universe!” it can be read on MUPHQC’s Facebook post.
“If you think she has what it takes to be the first-ever Miss Universe Philippines – Quezon City, go and share her photo. ‘Cos we will pick fifteen (15) lucky likers and sharers who will be invited to attend the Coronation Night and meet their favorite candidates, free of charge!”
The coronation night will be held on January 31, 2024.
Meanwhile, on a Facebook page of the beauty pageantry called "Bekis of Pageantry 2.0," a netizen named "Marikit Magyaya" defended Jocelyn. According to her, Jocelyn is a professional contestant, and even at the age of 69, she is not to be underestimated or taken lightly.
“Did You Know? Jocelyn Cubales represented Philippines in Mrs. Universe 2017 and bagged the Mother of the Universe Award,” it can be read.
“Now, 2024, she is set to compete in Miss Universe Philippines – Quezon City 2024 to fulfill her lifelong dream of competing in Miss Universe.”
“She’s not just a puchu-puchu candidate. She is a pageant veteran whom represented our country in various international pageants.”
“Support nalang sana no? Instead of b*sh*ng her. She’s 69 years old na, respect nalang.”
It will be remembered that the Miss Universe 2023 event can be considered as promoting inclusivity after breaking the traditional rules and allowing several candidates who are transgender, have children, and are plus-sized.
We never know; Jocelyn might be the next crowned Miss Universe if she is successful, right?
