MANILA, Philippines – Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singer-songwriter Jimmy Bondoc has successfully transitioned into the legal profession, becoming a lawyer!
James Patrick Romero Bondoc or “Jimmy Bondoc” is one of the 3,812 candidates who passed the 2023 Bar Examinations, as announced by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, December 5.
Jimmy Bondoc is a Filipino singer and songwriter. He gained prominence for his ballads and romantic songs.
Bondoc is recognized for hits like "Let Me Be the One" and "Hanggang Dito Na Lang."
In 2016, during the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte, Bondoc assumed the role of vice president for entertainment at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
This did not become easy because many raised their eyebrows and questioned his capability and credibility to hold the position.
"I don't mind people questioning the credentials of some of us appointees," Bondoc, a supporter of Duterte, posted on his Facebook page.
"However, I would also like to say that Entertainment is God's gift to me. I know it back and forth. But I am also willing to learn much more these coming years."
"I want to serve the next generation, hoping I can make conditions better for them… If I ever take money or kickbacks and the like, come to my house and cut off my hands," he stated.
Bondoc commenced his law studies at San Beda University in 2017. However, in 2019, he made a transition to the University of the East to pursue further studies in law.
In his Facebook post on December 5, Jimmy shared how he celebrated his victory.
“Nasa Aromata lang po kami the whole day, to praise God and to celebrate friendship. EVERYONE is welcome. 3pm to midnight, drinks, prayers, laughter. Glory to God and God alone,” aniya.
Congratulations, Atty. Jimmy Bondoc!
