MANILA, Philippines – When we need a cool weather and a breath of fresh air near the metro, Tagaytay City is probably the first option to come to our minds. But due to the overwhelming traffic, maybe you might think twice and explore other equally fascinating destination.
If you want to try something new, Maragondon is a perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Maragondon is a third class municipality in the province of Cavite. It is an upland municipality and is predominantly mountainous. Known mountain ranges with tourist potentials situated in this municipality are Mt. Pico de Loro (Mt. Palay Palay), Mt. Hulog, Mt. Mataas na Gulod, Mt. Nagpatong, and Mt. Buntis.
Let’s explore Cavite the not-so-typical way… in Maragondon!
Maragondon is just a two-hour drive from Metro Manila.
From PITX, you can hop on a bus going directly to town.
There are lots of places and activities to do in Maragondon. You can go hiking on Mt. Pico de Loro, visit the Andres Bonifacio Shrine and Eco-Tourism Park, or go boating at Maragondon River.
But for this feature, let’s visit Dagisdis ng Maragondon for a whole day tour.
To have a less-hassle travel, it’s much advisable to have a private vehicle going to Dagisdis ng Maragondon. With Google Maps or Waze, you can reach the resort in no sweat.
Upon reaching the location, you will be greeted by a fresh breeze of the mountain. Very different from our view of the metro and urban buildings and houses, only lush trees and flowers will be with you, and just enough guests since the location is not really a common destination (and that’s a plus for your trip!)
Ready your phone or cameras as there are plenty of spots to have your social media be filled with nature-popping shots, as well as the giant swings, chair, and “webs” to enjoy.
With just an entrance fee for as low as Php 150, you can enjoy your day here relaxing and away from pollution. Just bring your food and drinks, and pillow if you want to have a nap. You may also want to rent a cottage for your group to enjoy and have a picnic.
There is also a pool to swim and relax, and feel the cool breeze as you submerge facing the mountainous view of Maragondon. Or you might consider having an overnight stay with their gazebos and Instagrammable nipas and be one with nature, enjoy star-gazing, or just have a cozy sleep.
What are you waiting for, you can hit this location anytime you want, especially on weekends if that’s the only vacant day you have. Or maybe try this on a weekday to feel this place as if you own the place, less guests and more private experience. You may visit the Facebook page of Dagisdis ng Maragondon to have a direct inquiry or advance reservations if you might need to plan ahead of time.
