MANILA, Philippines – Michelle Dee moves closer to the much-awaited fifth crown for the Philippines as the country's bet was chosen to advance to the Top 20 of Miss Universe 2023 with the grand coronation night happening on Sunday, November 19, 2023 (Philippine time) at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Dee was chosen to advance in the competition based on the preliminary round, which featured contestants competing in swimsuit and evening gown, and closed-door interviews.
The Top 20 will do a small interview with hosts Jeannie Mai and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and will compete in swimsuit round. Only ten of them will advance to the evening gown competition.

During the preliminary competition, Dee captivated the crowd flaunting her curves with her vibrant red swimsuit. For the evening gown, she paid homage to her “family legacy” in a Mark Bumgarner creation. It was a tribute to her mother, Melanie Marquez, who also wore green when she was crowned Miss International in 1979.
The Philippines so far has 4 Miss Universe titlists: Catriona Gray in 2018, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, Margie Moran in 1973, and Gloria Diaz in 1969.
