Miss Universe 2023 format

For this year's edition, the MUO increased the semi-finalists to 20.

Nineteen (19) contestants will be announced at the start of the pageant as semi-finalists based on the results of the preliminary competition held on November 15, 2023, which consists of the swimsuit and evening gown competition, and the closed-door interviews. The twentieth delegate will advance based on online votes cast by fans worldwide.

The 20 semi-finalists will compete in the swimsuit competition and will be narrowed down to 10 afterward. The 10 semi-finalists will then compete in the evening gown competition in which 5 delegates will be chosen to advance as finalists.

The 5 finalists will compete in the interview questions, and will be trimmed down to three. The 3 finalists will compete in the final question and answer (Q&A), after which Miss Universe 2023 and her 2 runners-up will be announced.
