MANILA, Philippines – The November 2023 Geologist board exam results, which include the complete list of passers, top 10 (topnotchers), top performing schools and performance of schools are available on this page as announced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Geology on November 15 (immediately after the examination).

As announced, 165 out of 351 passed the computer-based Geologist licensure exams (GLE).

The Geologist board exam was administered in Manila on November 13, 14 and 15, 2023.

The three-day examination was held in PRC Manila premises using the Computer-Based Licensure Examination System and results were released on the last day of examination.

The members of the Board of Geology who gave the licensure examination are Hon. Fernando S. Peñarroyo, Chairman; Hon. Benjamin S. Austria and Hon. Elmer B. Billedo, Members.

REGISTRATION OF PASSERS


On December 12 to December 14, 2023, registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line. Please go to online.prc.gov.ph and follow instructions for initial registration.

Those who will register are required to bring the following:
  • downloaded duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal
  • notice of admission (for identification only)
  • 2 pieces passport sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag)
  • 2 sets of documentary stamps
  • 1 piece short brown envelope

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals, PRC said.

The date of the oathtaking ceremony of the new successful examinees in the Geologist exam WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER.

VERIFICATION OF RATINGS

Geologist board exam's verification of ratings (passers, non-passers and removal) can be done online.

Visit PRC's "Verification of Rating" service and provide the required information to verify your identity. Note that this will be available in few working days after the release of results.

COVERAGE OF EXAM

The Geology examination covered the folllowing subjects: general geology, petrology and mineralogy and applied geology.

PREVIOUS EXAMS

In the November 2022 Geologist board exams, PRC released results immediately in the last day of exams. A total of 154 out of 306 passed the exams.

In the December 2021 Geologist board exams, PRC announced results in the last day of exam. A total of 79 out of 142 passed the exams.

In the February 2021 Geologist board exams, PRC announced results after two (2) working days. A total of 64 out of 108 passed the exams.

In the November 2019 Geologist board exams, PRC announced results in three (3) working days after the exam. A total of 262 out of 473 hurdled the series of exams.

In the November 2018 exams, results were released after two (2) working days. PRC named 328 out of 556 who passed the exams.

ABOUT THE PROFESSION

A geologist is a scientist who studies the Earth, its composition, e.g. rocks and minerals, physical features, structures and the process that operate within and on its surface and how it has evolved with time.

Among the functions of a geologist are: conducting geological surveys and mapping of Earth's composition, exploring metallic and non-metallic mineral resources, exploring energy resources and studying of geohazards.

A professional geologist must demonstrate the ability to accurately record, classify and analyze geologic features on all levels of observation in any project being undertaken.

The 4-year Geology course in the Philippines normally ranges Php 50,000 to 100,000 per semester.
