MANILA, Philippines – Some local government units announced the suspension of face-to-face classes for October 16-17, 2023 (Monday and Tuesday) due to the impending nationwide transport strike.
The Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (MANIBELA) said to push through with its planned transport strike on Monday.
The rally is to voice out their concerns against Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) December 31 deadline for the consolidation of traditional jeepneys as part of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
Pampanga and Angeles City LGUs already issued orders for the cancellation of face-to-face classes next week and encouraged schools to shift to online, modular or any alternative learning modality.
In anticipation of the effects of the lack of public transportation to commuters especially students and school personnel, the following areas announced suspension of face-to-face classes:
